Group Workout

It seems the good weather is upon us so I think its time we all got together for a group workout, (those of us that are geographically close anyways). This might take a bit to put together so lets start talking about it now. I think the Nelvana/Toonbox area is our best bet. A lot of you are there already or at least close. Zurbrigg is pretty far but I reckon the jog from London to Toronto would be a good little warmup. I'm suggesting we do the Tough Mudder routine twice through, (if we can). You'll all need to bring your weights. If you don't have some, I have extra I can bring. Alicia, I can pick up yours because carrying those 80lb dumb bells to work is bothersome. I'm open for suggestions as far as location. You guys know the location better than me.

What would work best for folks? Lunch hour, after work, weekends, never? Let me know so we can plan. I would suggest a wednesday noon hour to get things started. Maybe the 28th or the 4th?

I was super happy and surprised at my time. Even though, as my lovely wife stated, I am older. Maybe not quite as old as she mentioned but it goes to show that you can always improve. That being said, the next day my legs ached and I complained like and old man.

  1. Generally any weekday at noon or after 6 works great for me. I could probably do weekends as well, but preferably sundays. I'd be up for this wednesday at noon at toonbox/nelvana area if we can gather a good group. I'm definitely a bit rusty, but slowly working my way back up as I've been getting to the gym a few times a week at lunchtime.

  2. I'll have to do upperbody only depending on what my physiotherapist says. But regardless I'm game. Shawn if you could bring weights for me that'd be awesome! I use 5 pound weights for arms, managed to up it a bit to 10 pounds though last week. (Although do you even own weights that small? maybe to work out your pinky fingers?). Corus building works well for me! Noon, afternoon, weekends, whatever. As long as I have enough notice I can arrange things accordingly.

  3. HEY! Yeah Toonbox/Nelvana area is good for me, I can get Yaleh out as well. We have a small grass park and a park with swing sets etc across the street. There's a lot of goose poop though, so don't wear a tuxedo. Messed up my foot a bit but it's getting better day by day and my chiropractor sais I'll be fine. So I'll do what I can and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do most.

  4. If we are doing after work, or weekends, I would prefer the Music Garden. There are more "apparatus" to use there. The bars, higher benches for jump ups, the big steps, etc. But if it is lunchtime, the Corus building field is more convenient for most.

    I think whatever work out we do, we need to do one with the runs mixed in between exercises. I did that with Sam and Steph last week and forgot how tough it is.

  5. I forgot we have a few injuries goin' round so lets wait until next week to give more time for healing. For those that are hurt but want to participate, (cause you're awesome) we can always come up with alternatives. So, for now, lets says Wednesday the 4th at the Nelvana/Toonbox area. I agree with Paul that the Music Garden has better, "facilities" so we'll try to do the next one there. Speaking as an unemployed person, I have all the time in the world but I fear many of you do not. With that, I'll suggest we meet at 12:15 and be ready to go. Maybe for safety sake, go in a little bit early to work that day incase we go long. I don't want anyone to get in trouble. Although, if you happen to get fired I'll have someone else to hang out with during the day.

    Lets get a head count.....

  7. I think the front page needs a WEDNESDAY 4TH NELVANA/TOONBOX AREA post.

    On the note of apparatus for chin-ups etc, there is a park across the street with chin-up bars galore. I'll show you tomorrow Paul. Tomorrow is arms day after all.

  11. I remember, just 10 short months ago when you couldn't make it to the park at Spadina without having to walk. That time is amazing. I hope you're proud of that time cause its fast!
