Someone wants to join our team but we have 20 people. Hmmm

Sheldon, one of the lighters at March, asked me about Tough Mudder and seemed interested in joining our team. He was talking to Alicia about it and he got all excited! (thanks Alicia) BUT we have 20 registered members now. Just checked.

So do we hold fast and true to our 20 person limit?
Should we consider splintering our group into two come Aug 19th as we all have varying levels of speed?(although then everyone can't get Shawn C to pull them up at the half pipe...)

Btw, I totally ran 20k last week total. 10, 4 and 6.

  1. Actually we need 21 people for the $20 discount. or 21+ if you will. If Sheldon can't fill the spot, my friend Dijana is interested. The girl loves the gym and loves running, so I think she'd be pretty awesome on our team. I didn't tell her yes though, figured I'd run it by you guys first.
And personally I say we cap it at 21 and keep everyone together. The whole point of this is teamwork right?

  2. Sheldon says he is interested. He also used to do 30k and 50k intense mountain bike races. Steph and Shawn S are here and said yeah. So I'm telling him its cool? Cool?

  3. Btw I only suggested splitting up the group in case it kept ballooning in size.

  4. I don't think splitting up the team should be an option. But I don't think there is any harm in having more than 21 people. It's just more people to help me get over a 12 foot wall, to encourage me to keep going, or make fun of me for not wanting to touch buttered up monkey bars. The sign up money is going towards a good cause, so why wouldn't we want more people to participate with us? If someone is really motivated to take part in our team I don't see how they would be a detriment, their motivation is going to pull them through and probably rub off on the rest of us. And honestly, if whoever wants to sign up is at least my height, they're going to be faster than I am.
If Sheldon wants to join I don't have any problem with it, and if your friend wants to join too Alicia I think that's great that she wants to do this, she should feel welcome on our team if she decides to join us.
No one should have their dreams of being part of this event crushed, that's just my two cents guys.

  5. I have no problem with people joining. If they are serious and are going to sign up, I need their e-mail address to send them the invite. Otherwise I don't think there is a way to join an existing team.

  6. I'll let her know. Steph you make a lot of pretty awesome points there. I'm partly to blame about the cap, as I suggested it, since when we were first making the team, it was lot of "my friend wants to join, but doesn't really work out".So we capped it to avoid bloat.

  7. Remember the entry rule of needing to beat Alicia in a foot race? I think that still stands...

  9. So what was the final verdict on more people joining? A Buddy of mine, Kelvin (most know him) wants to join up with his friend Roy ... so what are the rules now?

  10. I think the final verdict is anyone is welcome to join as long as they're hardcore and willing to train and prepare.
